Flora Bradwell’s Animation “Waltham Forest Bath” and Japanese documentary maker Kazuya Ashizawa’s Documentary “My Theatre” take joint first place. `

While Waltham Forest Bath takes an anarchic look at modern life and the proximity of nature on our doorstep

 

 

My Theatre Kazuyo Ashizawa

The multi-layered documentary story, My Theatre tells the story of an elderly Japanese projectionist, keeping an old cinema alive to audiences old and new.

The Magical Portal Mission Grove School E17

 2nd Place

Waltham Forest young talent is represented in the Under 18s category and the judges were charmed and enthralled by the delightful “The Magical Portal”, in which the Mission Grove Primary School let their imaginations run wild and experimented with different styles of stop motion animation. Congratulations to Mr Darling and the creative team at the local school.

 

 

 

WOMXN by Gystere

Highly Commended,  runners up, category winners

Souvenir by Bakhtiar Khalili displaying a window into rural life in Kurdistan, Iran.

Gystere’s “WOMXN” was a “dark and lonely” experimental Drama with animation and a full bleak and cynical advertising break included.

The judges admired the film’s strong message and also congratulated the other two dramas in the category, all of which packed a powerful message and were beautifully shot. High commendations to the film Souvenir from Kurdistan, Iran with beautiful shots and performances from the lead actors.

 

 

Velocity Kent Tate Shortlisted and Category Winner Experimental

 

 

The Experimental section was also a varied section with special fx, animation and sleek editing. The judges selected Velocity as the clear winner in the category and congratulated Kent Tate on his imaginative, thought-provoking and philosophical work.
