Judges

Paul and Liza Fletcher, Directors of the Walthamstow International Film Festival are thrilled to have a wide selection of expert judges for the 2011 competition. The panel has the perspective of Director, Actor, Critic and TV executive.  All have a link to independent film and to East London where the festival is based.

Judges are: Baroness Oona King, actor Paul McGann, director Barry Bliss and Time Out film critic David Jenkins.  Judging will take place in August once the film entries have been catagorised.

• Oona King lives in East London, in one of Walthamstow’s neighbouring boroughs and has worked for Channel 4 Television as well as being a seasoned programme presenter and newsworthy MP previously.
• Paul McGann is an English actor who is best known for his film role in Withnail and I, and for portraying Doctor Who in the 1996 television movie.  One of Paul’s most recent roles was in the independently made movie Godard & Others, directed by Walthamstow resident, Barry Bliss. 
• Barry Bliss is an Internationally recognized film director. His other films include Voice from Afar, Poppies, and a documentary on Alfred Hitchock, who hailed from this area before he enjoyed success in Hollywood.
• David Jenkins is a professional film critic and writes about everything from blockbusters to independently produced movies in the famous London listings magazine, Time Out.
